Let’s face it, some spring and summer nights sti Let’s face it, some spring and summer nights still call for slow cooked meals because life gets busy! I see you mamas with dress rehearsals, recitals, soccer practice, baseball tournaments. Here’s a quick easy recipe to throw in your slow cooker on your busiest night of the week. Let me know if you try it! 

The recipe again is:

3lbs chuck roast sliced into 1” pieces
1 large onion
2-3 cloves garlic
2 tbsp tomato paste
Splash of balsamic
2 bay leaves
1/4 tsp thyme
S&P to taster
4 C beef bone broth
1 C red wine (or more broth or water)
Tapioca mixed with water to thicken (1/4C or so)

Brown the beef, sauté the onions and garlic, tomato paste & balsamic. Add broth and seasoning. Add back the meat and bring to a boil. Simmer all day in your slow cooker

I like to serve this over egg noodles or mashed potatoes, with a side of veggies!

Our thoughts are so powerful. And they mean so much more than we often believe. You can go days without food, sleep, water…. But you won’t go more than 3 seconds without a thought! Our thoughts represent a powerful side of us that can be managed and can lead to significant change.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The number one factor I've seen in my practice that will halt or slow down the healing process is emotional baggage that is un-dealt-with. Thoughts and emotions are inextricably linked. What we think has an origin story, and our thoughts produce emotions, behaviours and physical reactions. Thoughts and emotions can literally change physical structures within your brain and the cells in your body. This is why I love tools like Emotional Freedom Technique and Neurocycle because they have the ability to neutralize the 'charges' that these thoughts and emotions produce. Neurocycle has been helpful for me to understand more about the origin of my thoughts and the why behind some of my tendencies. I'm currently working through my second cycle of 63 days (this is an app you can follow!)

We can't supplement our way out of stress, emotional trauma, past trauma... we have to slow down and get to the root. I think we glamorize being so busy in our culture, that most people haven't really taken the time to think about their thoughts. I’m often reminded as I work through my own “stuff” that we are spirit, soul(mind), and body. They are all connected parts of us and require care and attention. One of the fundamental premises of the root cause One of the fundamental premises of the root cause protocol is the simple truth that stress begets illness. 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This doesn’t mean we have to live a life that avoids stress at all costs, but it does mean that we need to be intentional with our lives. We need to see how our stress story has impacted our physical health and begin to make the changes that can mitigate the effects. We need to build resilience. This can be done with a combination of nutrient and mineral rebalancing as well as some basic regulating habits. The body needs to be able to make energy in order to actually mount a response to the stressor:

Here are some simple foundational lifestyle changes you can make to help manage and mitigate the stress in your life:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌾Nature — get outside for a 30 minute walk or a bike ride. Moving + nature = win win!!
☀️Sunlight — I’m particularly fond of sunrise and sunset
🦶🏼Grounding — standing barefoot in the grass, on sand, rocks, etc… feel the earth beneath your feet 
📆Schedule rest — yes. Put it on the calendar!
🧠practice mind management — personal favourite is Neurocycle. But there are lots of ways to do this. 
💤limit blue light in the evenings

You see, stress causes mineral imbalances which influence how well we are able to execute cellular processes. These imbalances eventually lead to an increase of reactive oxygen species and then, INFLAMMATION. All the steps are laid out in the RCP handbook and it’s a free download.
